Spring Break – Top 5 FREE things to do for LJMU students.

The Easter eggs are filling the shelves and the end of the academic year is quickly approaching for some. With that in mind, make sure you take some time out of the books this Spring Break and enjoy the city – check out our favourite 5 things to do that are FREE for all you lucky LJMU students.

  1. Terrify yourself by watching Sweeney Todd

A classic is back on the Everyman stage and students can sign-up to Sweeney Todd for free by joining us on our City Social event on Fri 12th April, 6.30pm.

Or for a mere £5, you can buy a ticket to watch this well-known musical during this April and May. Why not use your LJMU 10% discount on food and drink before the show in bistro or café, but only if you can keep it down while witnessing the famous cutthroat story unveil.

  1. De-stress by working out or sweating it at Lifestyles

Did you know that LJMU students can sign up for a free membership, which includes free access to the gyms, over 100 classes, Olympic sized swimming pools, sauna/steam rooms plus much more. We think that the mind and body are separate, but what you do with your body can have a powerful effect on your mental wellbeing. They have a wide range of classes to suit any ability and style of exercise so if you want to relax with Pilates, or you want to unleash some stress with Body Pump, we’re sure it’ll help blow away the cobwebs.

Lifestyles have 13 centres across Liverpool, so go and make the most of your free pass.

  1. Watch the newly released film: Queen of Scots

If you’ve already been interested by the FREE films at the Phil this year, including the blockbuster Mary Poppins, and you’re stuck for something to do during the Spring Break, book tickets for you and a friend to watch another Mary, (Queen of Scots) on the world’s only Waldraw cinema screen. Either book your two FREE tickets for Tues 16th Apr by calling the box-office or join us and other students for a quick cuppa before heading to watch the film.

Seeing the screen rise from the stage along with the cutest organist playing a little jingle is an experience in itself.

  1. See the city at its best

Ever wanted to see Liverpool from a birds-eye view? LJMU students can get free access for two to venture upto the top of the Liverpool Cathedral Tower and even better Twilight Thurs are coming back 4th April where you can watch the sun set over probably the best city in the world.

If you don’t fancy going alone, join us on our Culture Crawl: Cathedral Tower Special (Thurs 25th April, 2.30pm), where we we’ll be taking you on a city tour finishing at the top of the tower. We’ll also be showing all the best sneaky little hidden gems around Liverpool and telling you things that you wish you would have found out earlier.

  1. Rewind at the Tate Liverpool

Going for a stroll along the docks is a sure fire way to help you relax and forget about your worries for a little while. As well as the wonderful river Mersey that is impressive in any weather, there are a host of museums and galleries that are all free to access, including the Tate, which is home to some incredible contemporary art. LJMU students get free access to all of their exhibitions all year round.
