Royal Liverpool Philharmonic

From Hamelin to Hogwarts

The Liverpool Philharmonic provide a wide range of family concerts throughout the year which are a great way to bring people of all ages together to enjoy classical music. With help from the ’80 amazing musicians of the Orchestra, you’ll hear tales of Hamelin and Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings, the Cat in the Hat, Alice in Wonderland and the King’s New Clothes, all without using a single word!’

Come along thirty minutes prior to the show so the little ones can try their hand at a range of different instruments in the ‘instrument petting zoo’.

Playhouse Theatre 

There are so many amazing shows for you and your family at the Playhouse this season, and that isn’t even the best part… as an LJMU student you can get a ticket to any of the shows below for just £5!

‘The Little Matchgirl (and Other Happier Tales)’
Take a wondrous tour through some of Hans Christian Anderson’s best known fairytales in a play that’s one of a kind. ‘For adults and brave children alike,’ you can expect music, puppetry and dark magic in a show that will be a great experience to share with family.

‘Roald Dahl’s George’s Marvellous Medicine’
Do I need to say any more?! Following the success of ‘The Twits’ and ‘The Witches,’ Curve is back with another classic from Roald Dahl. In a show that’s promises to be visually stunning and hilarious, audiences of all ages can sit back, relax and watch George get revenge on his ‘grizzly old grunion’ of a Grandmother.

Tate Liverpool

The Tate Liverpool is the ideal place for everything weird and wonderful, and that’s no exception when it comes to family friendly activities. So everyone roll up your sleeves and get stuck in with the FREE events for you and your family in the coming weeks.

Make & Create Station
Inspired by the current Roy Lichtenstein exhibition, the Tate has set up a make and create station where families can go and try their hand at designing their own comic strip. It’s fun, creative, and completely free!
Dates: Daily until 17 Jun 2018

The Terracotta Warriors
One of the greatest archaeological discoveries of all time is coming to Liverpool for the first time ever, and the whole family can book tickets now to take a trip through 1000 years of Chinese history. Along with one of the oldest man made wonders of the world, there will be other rare artefacts never before seen in the UK… it’s safe to say this one isn’t to be missed.
Dates: 9 February – 28 October 2018
Price: £5.50 for children aged between 6 and 17 years. Free for children aged 5 years and under.
